1st LT Roslyn (Roz) Schulte, the first female Air Force Academy graduate to die in support of Operating Enduring Freedom, was born on March 18, 1984, and died on May 20, 2009, when the car in which she was riding was hit by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

DC3 Nathan B. Bruckenthal was born on July 17, 1979, and died in Iraq on April 24, 2004. He joined the Coast Guard in 1998, and his first duty station was on the Coast Guard Cutter Pointe Wells.
